Derived harmonically from spectral techniques, Snapshots of a Freeway is inspired by the sights and sounds of a freeway in nocturnal rain. In this piece, I attempt to capture the sound of tires on the road with glissandi, of rain on the windshield with pizzicato, and of traffic lights with flashing polyrhythms.

Premiered on November 3, 2023 by the Friction Quartet (Kevin Rogers and Otis Harriell on violin, Ezra Costanza on viola, and Doug Machiz on cello) at Campbell Recital Hall, Stanford University, Stanford, California.
